Marathon batteries - or at least the Miata battery - is a store brand East Penn battery. WestCo is another brand owned by East Penn. In this case, Super Start is a retail brand name for batteries made by East Penn / Deka. There have been a number of threads on this, with a superabundance of details for those who like that level of information. ![]() You'll need to cut the existing venting tube to vent through both ports. At $112 the price was right and the battery hold down fit perfectly. The plus side is Oreilly provides a 3yr direct swap warranty vs the 1yr marathon. Im pretty sure they manufactured by the same company. Luckily Oreilly auto carries an AGM battery that is vented and looks exactly like the marathon images I have seen. I also looked at bosch but they too only carry an unvented conventional model. At the time writing this, Autozone only carries a convential, unvented model (8AMU1R) for $112. People seem to like the "Marathon AGM" and a fabled "Duralast Gold". The old battery was the wrong size, type and did not have any vents. After my old battery stopped working one day, I started looking for options.
